Links to NCR45 Mercian Way information
Cheshire County Council have a leaflet on NCR45 downloadable as a .pdf file and many other routes including NCR5 at the Cycle Routes in Cheshire page.
Shropshire County Council has information pages for cyclists at Shropshire Cycling. There are .pdf leaflets for Wyre Forest to Bridgnorth; around the Wrekin, and Shrewsbury to Whitchurch. The leaflet for Shrewsbury Whitchurch shows some of NCR45 north into Cheshire. The route shown on this part of the leaflet is wrong NCR45 does not go into Marbury. Also bear in mind that Shrewsbury is not on NCR45.
This site from Worcestershire County Council has a .pdf download for the Shropshire County Council leaflet NCR45 from Bewdley to Bridgnorth. It also has .pdf downloads for NCR45 Wyre Forest and Droitwich to Worcester, as well as other leaflets.
Gloucestershire County Council have a web page for cycle routes but there is no mention as yet of NCR45 The Mercian Way. There are a range of commercial printed guides on offer. Cycling pages Gloucestershire County Council
There is no mention as yet of NCR45 the Mercian Way on Wiltshire’s Cycling web pages. Hopefully this can be rectified soon. The information leaflet on offer has to be applied for and sent by post.
Other Cycle Route Web Sites
Cycle-Routes.org is a web site run by Dik Stoddart, it has lots of information about other cycle routes, and links to useful web sites. Dik gave me a lot of help and encouragement when I started this project and I would like to publicly thank him.
Cycle Groups and Clubs
This group formed in 1994 is very active in Salisbury and many of the members are also Sustrans Volunteer Rangers. They have a very good web site at COGS Cycling Opportunities Group. There is also a link to 'Clarence' a scheme operated in Wiltshire for reporting and dealing with pot holes.
